Satsang Meeting Suggestions

The following are only suggestions. You and your group should feel free to use your own judgment and create whatever is appropriate for your group.

  • Set up the space to be respectful, simple, and as beautiful as possible.
  • Start with 15 minutes or so of silence.
  • Have a place for a copy of the Catalog, an up-to-date schedule, and other material with Foundation telephone numbers and the web site address.
  • Provide a container for donations. At an appropriate time, you may also wish to make an announcement about donations for supporting your local costs, as well as donations for supporting Gangaji's programs worldwide.
  • If people want to be on the Gangaji Foundation Mailing List and receive email newsletters and general mailings, have them fill out the Guest Book on the web site, send e-mail to , or call the Foundation (800-267-9205 Ext 100).
  • Some groups leave in silence after the video; others finish with talk and sharing, or a potluck meal together. What we ask is that your group honor the sacred space created by your coming together, regardless of the specific activity that follows the video.
  • If you like, offer tea and cookies, fruit and nuts, or other prasad after the video.
  • If you are sending in donations or other correspondence to the Foundation by postal mail, be sure to specify "Video Satsang" on the envelope.

Telling People About Your Group

This section lists typical steps you might follow in announcing your meetings.

  • PREPARE THE ANNOUNCEMENT: Make up a flyer or announcement of your Video Satsang. This could be a postcard or a flyer with a picture and info about your meeting. It should contain all the information people will need to know: where, when, and your phone number (including area code). Include the information that while there is no charge for Video Satsang, donations are welcome.
  • SEND DRAFT TO COORDINATOR: Mail or e-mail a draft copy of the announcement to the Video Satsang coordinators for approval.
  • DISSEMINATE WIDELY: Give to friends, post in appropriate locations, send via email or postal mail, and also perhaps include in local publications or web sites.

Use the following steps to send your announcement to people in your area that are listed in the Gangaji Foundation mailing list:

  • CHOOSE POSTAL CODES: Compile a list of codes that are within reasonable driving distance to the site of your Video Satsang meetings. Arrange these in numerical order and mail, fax, or e-mail them to The Gangaji Foundation, Attn: Video Satsang. E-mail is of course preferred. www.zipinfo.com provides a free online service where you can enter the name of a US town and it will return all the zip codes in a list that you can copy and paste into an e-mail. If you are outside of the United States, give us the name of your town or surrounding towns, plus relevant postal codes if possible, and we will do our best to find people in our database.
  • WE SEARCH AND GIVE YOU A NUMBER: We will let you know how many people in our mailing list database are in your local area.
  • SEND READY TO MAIL: Send us the correct number of approved announcements, folded, taped closed, and stamped, ready to go. (Putting them in an envelope is fine also.) Leave the side with the stamp blank. We will affix the address labels and the Foundation's return address labels and mail them.
Ways To Get Video DVDs

As we said, most people begin building their groups by showing videos that they and their friends have already accumulated, and it's OK to show videos more than once. We have repeatly experienced seeing a video a second or third time and receiving a whole new level of depth and insight. Also, you can swap videos with other hosts. And, you can buy videos from the Gangaji Foundation, either from the Catalog, or with a 10% discount through one of the subscription programs:

From the Current Catalog
At any time you may contact Customer service or go to the Bookstore on the web site and order videos from the current Catalog.

One or Two Videos per Month
The Subscription Program offers one or two videos a month at a 10% discount. These videos are chosen by the staff from the live recordings made at current events. To participate in this program call call the subscription coordinator at (800-267-9205 Ext 227) or click here to enroll online.
