Outright Gifts of Stocks/Mutual Funds
This is a popular way to share your gratitude for the peace, love and joy that you have discovered. It is simple, immediate, and tangible.
But some forms of outright giving do require a bit of planning. If you’d like to donate shares of stock or mutual funds, publicly traded companies are relatively easy. For privately held or restricted shares please check with your legal and financial advisers about the details.
Will or Trust
A simple provision in your will or estate trust is a powerful way to provide for the continuation of the deepening peace that Gangaji offers through her invitation.
It is a very flexible plan. Give a set dollar or stock amount. If you prefer, just donate a percentage of your estate. Your will or trust can name a specific purpose, or you can leave it to us to decide where your gift will bring the most benefit.
We want your legacy to do exactly what you intend it to do, and we want you to get maximum personal advantage as well. So check with your legal and financial advisors on how this plan can benefit the Gangaji Foundation’s work and your estate.
Life Insurance
One of the most flexible and inexpensive ways you can make a difference in the ongoing discovery of peace is with your life insurance policy, whether you’re contributing to a policy now, have a paid-up policy or have employer-provided life insurance at no cost to you.
You have a variety of options. Through a simple form, you can add The Gangaji Foundation as a beneficiary of five, ten, fifty, or a hundred percent, or any amount you choose. Another approach is to name The Gangaji Foundation as secondary or final beneficiary in case someone you’re providing for can’t claim his or her portion.
If you also name The Gangaji Foundation as owner of the policy, there may be several other significant tax advantages.
You might even consider a new policy. With payments that are low, perhaps even automatic, you can create a gift capable of doing much greater good in the long run. Your smaller investment goes on to serve many more people around the world.
Retirement Plan
Many people are surprised to learn that their pension and/or retirement plan can be a practical and even a preferential way to give to The Gangaji Foundation and its outreach programs that serve our community all over the world.
Your IRA, 401(k), or 403(b) plan has a beneficiary for any funds you don’t eventually use. So, much the same as a will or life insurance plan, you simply designate The Gangaji Foundation to receive some percentage of what you don’t use in retirement.
In the meantime, you have full use of all the money in your plan, just as you always did.
Your Legacy in Action
This is your gift to the future and we have the highest respect for your wishes. Regardless of what financial vehicle you choose to support the discovery of peace, your donation can be used in whatever way you wish.
As you plan your gift, you’ll want to direct it in one of three basic ways:
General Use: This gift empowers The Gangaji Foundation to use your donation where it is most needed at any given time.
Specific Use: Maybe your desire is to ensure that everyone who asks to see Gangaji in person gets a chance to be with her regardless of financial hardship. You may feel attracted to help build the outreach programs that support so many, such as the prison program that brings the discovery of true freedom to men and women behind bars, the Video Meetings groups offering community support around the world, our interactive website, or Gangaji on Public Access TV across America. Many discover Gangaji and the peace they have been seeking for the first time through one of these programs.
Bedrock Fund: You may prefer to make a legacy gift to the endowment/bedrock fund. Your gift will be used to sustain the organization in difficult economic times as well as provide the necessary funds for new initiatives.
Every act of peace adds to the sum total of love and connection in the world. Your gift of peace to those who are struggling in their lives, trying to find what is missing or to overcome despair is more than you can ever imagine.
With this legacy donation, you are honoring in a new way the recognition in your own heart that peace is the birthright of everyone. You are making a plan to bring the possibility of peace to individuals as pointed to by Gangaji, right now and beyond your days.
In gratitude, we come together in this shared purpose of serving the recognition of peace inherent in the core of all being. As Gangaji says, we “offer a transmission of immeasurable love that is this one heart—lighting candles around the world.”
We want to help make your generous gift easy to arrange. Don’t hesitate to email us with any questions you might have.
